I went to Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Tuesday looking forward to seeing Kyle Pitts in action. It wasn’t a game, scrimmage or full-speed practice. The Falcons are still in shorts at this time of year. But full pads aren’t necessary for Pitts to show off the skills and athleticism that persuaded the Falcons to make him the highest-drafted tight end in NFL history. How was Pitts moving nearly six ...

When the Dallas Cowboys released running back Ezekiel Elliott in March, it may have caught the attention of Najee Harris. Now that the Minnesota Vikings have followed suit and cut Dalvin Cook, Harris has his antenna way up. The NFL trend line of devaluing running backs has come to a head this offseason. Elliott was let go from his $90 million contract after his least efficient season in 2022, ...

Brittney Griner and the Phoenix Mercury's first two road trips highlight the issues facing her and the league. The Mercury's opening weekend trip to Los Angeles had the team traveling on a business jet and not having to go through the commercial part of the airport. Last week, the team went to Texas and then Indiana and the All-Star center was harassed at the Dallas airport by a social media "provocateur" on Saturday.

Brooks Koepka is at a major and feeling as good as ever. No issues with his health. His major trophy count is at five. Koepka isn't the least bit bothered about the future of LIV Golf or anything else involving the PGA Tour partnership with the Saudi national wealth fund. He says he enjoys chaos because he's able to focus clearly on what he's trying to do. He was runner-up in the Masters. He won the PGA Championship. The next test is Los Angeles Country Club for the U.S. Open and his bid for another multiple major year.

Berry Henson is a part-time Uber driver who has traveled the world to get to the U.S. Open. He is 43. He has played in more than a dozen tours around the globe. He still picks up the occasional passenger. And now he's at Los Angeles Country Club as one of the U.S. Open long shots. That's the great appeal of this Open. Anyone can play. Anyone can dream. Olin Browne Jr. knows the feeling. He father won three times on the PGA Tour and played 12 U.S. Opens. The son finally gets his first crack at age 34.

Victor Wembanyama's first moment in the NBA is now just a few days away. The NBA Finals are over and the league will soon turn its attention to the draft. And that means the attention will shift to Wembanyama as well. He's the French teen who has been labeled a generational talent and is getting the sort of pre-draft attention that nobody has experienced since LeBron James when he was entering the league 20 years ago.

FORT WORTH, Texas — As the mob of young men celebrated their trip to the College World Series in front of 9,000 people on Saturday night, the whole party scene at TCU’s Lupton Stadium felt inevitable. TCU returning to the College Baseball World Series for the first time since 2017 and sixth time since 2010 was always “never in doubt,” when such moments are hardly a guarantee when you opt for ...

Drew Bowser hit a routine fly that Texas outfielders couldn't find in the twilight sky, allowing Alberto Rios to score the game-winning run from second, and Stanford edged the Longhorns 7-6 to advance to its third straight College World Series. Rios was nearly thrown out at second for the third out of the ninth after his long fly to left hit off the wall. Texas almost got out of the inning again when Bowser hit a high fly, but it dropped about 15 feet from outfielder Dylan Campbell. Stanford (44-18) will play top-seeded Wake Forest on Saturday in the College World Series.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had the ball at the 39-yard line, leading Green Bay 14-10 with eight seconds remaining before halftime of the 2021 NFC Championship game. Without any timeouts, they faced a decision: Attempt a long field goal, try a quick pass to the sideline to set up an easier kick, or go for the end zone. The team took the third option. Speedster Scotty Miller blew by cornerback ...

The Golden Knights delivered their city a true Vegas-style party from dazzling passes to a Mark Stone hat trick to all-out goal celebrations. The Knights captured the young organization's first Stanley Cup with a 9-3 romp Tuesday over the beaten up and exhausted Florida Panthers. Coach Bruce Cassidy started five of the original Vegas players known as the Misfits and put the sixth on the second shift. Cassidy sounded confident the day before the game that his team would play well, and it certainly did. Vegas blew open a one-goal game in the second period to lead 6-1.

Bills quarterback Josh Allen declined to push the panic button while explaining how unresolved issues stemming from last season led receiver Stefon Diggs to show his displeasure by skipping the team's start of mandatory practices.
